The Médoc region can be found stretching north west from the city of Bordeaux. Ranging 10 km in width, the vineyard strip runs 80 km from the northern suburb of the city. Though lacking the refined stature of the “village” wines, the region boasts of an unmistakable fruit character unique to the left bank, while also proffering a keenly priced alternative to the more famous vineyards within this region.
The Médoc lies just north of Saint-Estèphe. Médoc and Haut-Médoc can be read, quite simply, as the northern and southern parts of the same region respectively. Soils of the northern Médoc typically contain higher levels of clay in their composition thus a colder soil resulting in a slightly delayed ripening period. This prolonged ripening invites the plantation of more Merlot, a precocious grape variety. Soils found in the south are warmer, consisting of more sand and gravel, well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, a late ripener.

An excellent cru Bourgeois from an outstanding vintage. Ripe, spicy and fruity. Still youthful, with a chewy mid-palate, smooth texture in the finish.

Very full bodied. Very impressive when decanted for a few hours. Great vintage.
Château Tour Salvet 2014
Aged partly in 40% oak barrels and partly in stainless steel vats for 12 months. Made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Outstanding value from the Haut-Médoc. The flavour is well focused with a toasted blueberry and blackberry character enhanced with dark chocolate ; adding to its very appealing taste. Youthful and centered ; taut mid palate. Perfect partner with food. The 2014 vintage was awarded Gold in the 2016 Paris wine competition.
Château Sénéjac 2015
Nose of cigar/cedar box and spices. Taut and youthful with plenty of potential with fruits to unfold with time.
Medium bodied. Very fruity. Although not a heavy blockbuster., this is ripe and classy.
Château Cantemerle 2011
5ème Cru Classé. Delicious wine still led by its oak, but not in a bad way. Palate shows good persistence. Medium bodied and restrained, reflecting the 2011 vintage, the fruit also has some restraint. Good savoury flavour profile. Perfect partner with food.
One of the best and most consistent wine in the Médoc in this price range. Restrained oak and good balanced oak and grape tannins with a lovely consistent finish. Excellent concentration of flavor, this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc shows a lovely complexity of earthy fruits.
Restrained oak and good balanced tannin with a lovely persistent finish. Good concentration of flavor. Outstanding vintage. Will improve immensely.
4ème Cru Classé. Very ripe and attractive toasty sweet red capsicum on the nose. Ripe fruits and oak on the palate and a good whack of ripe tannins. This vintage unfold very well in the glass. Accessible, delicious and a really beautiful wine.
