Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux
Château Robin 2015
Made with 60 Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is ample. Very good fruit, crunchy dark berries, fresh with ripe acidity. Tannins are nicely integrated, quite silky, wood noticeable with, highly unusual in Bordeaux, a small amount of American oak (13-14%) used in the maturation. Intense vibrant fruit projection with quite a good finish.
Château Ampélia 2002
Superb. Lovely maturity with very racy fruitiness and interesting texture with ripe tannins. Excellent quality price ratio.
Château Côte Montpezat “Compostelle” 2010
A classic Merlot based wine with a ripe cherry and blueberry tone, a smooth texture and just enough oak and grape tannins leading to a clean finish. This is an elegant food wine also great to sip on its own. Has very good balance.
Château d’Aiguilhe 2014
Although ready to consume, this is a wine that improves and gets better in a decanter. Generously fruity in a modern style. Soft tannins and mouthfeel. Not a blockbuster, medium to full bodied. Long finish and classy character.
Clos Puy Arnaud 2015
Impressive entry. Will probably improve but already very good with its ripe fruit and smooth texture. Structured, complex and well balanced. The assemblage is made of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Decanting hours before is a good idea. This is going to develop into a real beauty and has a nice weight. This is made in a modern classy style and not over extracted.
Francs Côtes de Bordeaux
Château de Francs 2015
“Les Cerisiers” is particularly intense with very vibrant fruits and never heavy. Super tasty. Made with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Puygueraud 2016
Medium to full bodied with a solid feel and measured tannins and acidity. Smoky fruitiness and black berries in a forward spicy style. Made with 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec also known as Pressac in Bordeaux.
