Just west of Pomerol, the scattered vineyards of Fronsac are found on low lying hills overlooking the Dordogne river. This region is sometimes called “Bordeaux’s little Tuscany”. The wines are firm and full bodied while showing an attractive fruitiness.
This minute appellation, Canon-Fronsac, produces wines that can be a trifle stronger than Fronsac. Merlot is the staple grape variety in those two appellations with some added Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (aka Malbec) to spice up the final blend.

To decant a few hours to unfold further fruits from its youthful character. This is a soft, silky, lush, and very pleasing wine.
Full bodied. Finishes softly with good aromatic and tactile persistence. Ripe and solid. Already delicious. This is consistently one of the best, Merlot based, mid price Bordeaux wines.
Château Villars 2008
A great wine with a superb evolution in maturity. Intensely fruity with an exceptionally well balanced structure. Medium to full bodied. Highly recommended.
Château Canon de Brem 2002
Good opportunity to try a perfectly mature Canon-Fronsac from this typical old school Bordeaux. Beautifull toasted tobacco scent. Now at a plateau and how a beautiful wine this is ! Nice mouthfeel. Well balanced. Flawless. Lyrical fruitiness. So good!
